The ADDP is a program initiated by the Federal Government to provide good and reliable dental services for people serving in the U.S Armed Forces.

Active Duty Dental Program Cost and Enrollment

Does Active Duty Family Members Eligible?

The Active Duty Dental Program is available for the members of active duty of the U.S. Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard. In addition to that, the active members of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Guard and Reserve Component Sponsors are also eligible. However, the members of the National Guard and Reserve Component sponsors must be called or ordered to active duty for more than a month (consecutively).

There are also people related to the army who are not eligible for the ADDP. They are:

  • The members of Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS)
  • The members of National Guard and Reserve services who are not active for more than 30 days
  • Transitional Assistance Management Program personnel who are not activated or activated for less than 30 days
  • Disabled veterans
  • Retired members of the U.S. Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard
  • The families related to these active duty members, including spouses, former spouses, parents, and parents in law, children, and other active duty dental program family members.

Active Duty Dental Program Benefits

People might think that the ADDP is something like a dental insurance. However, that is an incorrect assumption. It’s a benefit program offered for active duty members. This means that –unlike dental insurance– a person who is eligible for this benefit will receive authorized covered dental services for free. There is no out-of-pocket active duty dental program cost, and 100% of the dental procedure cost will be reimbursed by the United Concordia. However, you still have to pay attention to which dental services are covered. Please refer to our reference section (pdf file) to see the complete official guide on the ADDP benefits available.

Those who want to receive the dental treatment should first go to the Military Dental Treatment Facility (DTF), and then they will refer you to a dentist from the United Concordia network who is assigned to provide service for the Active Duty Service Members. The timeline from the referral and the actual service from the United Concordia dentist would be somewhere between 21 and 28 days, depending on the type of dental care requested.

Last but not least, we would like to remind you that you should always go to the military dental facility first. They will decide if you need additional treatment from the dentist network or not.
